The Beginning

My ceramic journey started on a whim. I was always creative, and had a feeling that pottery was something I could be good at.

Following my heart, I purchased a wheel & kiln and started teaching myself to throw. It was hard! My first piece - this little bowl - is a treasure that I still have today as a tribute to my struggle.

Lohtu Begins

In April of 2018, Lohtu Ceramics went live on Etsy. I finally had a sense of direction and undertanding of what I love in a mug & wanted to share that with the world:

My pieces have beautiful shapes, pleasing weight, a superior temperature response, and a range of colors to please any taste.

New Studio Space

Sales began slowly that first season, but soon increased. After working the first 2 years in my garage, it was time to find a commercial studio space. The perfect spot became available in July of 2020: an art studio on Main Street in Park Rapids, Minnesota -- my home town.

The Journey Continues

After 4 years, thousands of pieces & happy customers, I’m proud to say that I’m still passionate about every piece I make. They are parts of me, shared with the world.
